Operating Instructions: A Journal of My Son's First Year - Anne Lamott I read this book for my infant development class. Anne Lamott is a wonderful writer. She is able to aptly express the anxieties and difficulties of having a very young infant, particularly as a single parent. While Lamott clearly had a lot of social support which eased her journey, that didn't stop her from going crazy during those days of sleepless nights. Lamott is able to discuss her anxieties with humor although some might be offended by some of her thoughts. I will definitely check out some of Lamott's fictional works and I also look forward to reading her book on writing, Bird by Bird, which I've heard is phenomenal.
